Holography and Dark Energy: Long Freeze and Beyond

The holographic principle is perhaps one of the most interesting ideas in contemporary quantum gravity formulations, finding wide range of applications in an array of theories ranging from string theory to entropic gravity. What thus makes it very interesting to see is how one can find results of cosmological interest by utilizing this principle. In this regard, the paradigm of Holographic Dark Energy has been a standout approach which has developed rigorously in the last 2 decades. In this talk I would like to discuss the fundamentals and the development of holographic dark energy and would like to discuss how it is very helpful in addressing a lot of issues of the standard cosmological constant approach to dark energy. I would then like to discuss the Long Freeze, a scenario for the far future of the universe which myself and Prof. Scherrer developed last year in the context of holographic dark energy. I would also then discuss future works on holographic cosmology that we are currently building on right now.
